Box Score SILVER CITY, N.M. (December 11, 2015) – A 30-point third quarter led the No. 19 Colorado State University-Pueblo women's basketball team to a 77-52 win over Western New Mexico University. The Pack has now won seven games in a row. They have defeated their last four opponents by a combined 85 points, an average margin of victory of 21.25 points.
The ThunderWolves shot an incredible 57.4 percent (31-for-54) from the field. The Pack currently own the best winning percentage in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. They improved to 7-1 (2-0 RMAC) with the win, while the Mustangs dropped to 3-4 (1-1 RMAC).
Lauren Heyn (Fr., Loomis, Calif.) scored 12 points and snagged 10 rebounds in her second double-double of the season. Tuileisu Anderson (So., Vancouver, Wash.) paced the Pack with 17 points and three steals.
The Pack fell behind early as the Mustangs jumped out to a 20-13 lead after one. Western New Mexico shot 61.5 percent from the field in the first.
CSU-Pueblo responded with a 48-13 run over the next two quarters. The Pack outscored the Mustangs 18-8 while draining 70 percent from the field in the second. Anderson collected eight of her game-high 17 points in the second stanza to put the Pack in front 31-28 at halftime.
The Pack surged out of the break with a 14-0 run to begin the second half. In one of the most dominant quarters in program history, the Pack rolled to a 30-5 advantage in the third frame.
In the third quarter, the Pack outrebounded the Mustangs 19-1. CSU-Pueblo also sank 11 of their 19 (57.9 percent) attempts from the field.
Ashley Piper (Sr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa) netted six of her 13 points in the third quarter. Piper also grabbed six boards and drained three 3-pointers in the win.
While the Pack could not repeat their third quarter performance, they did score 16 points in the final frame to close out their seventh consecutive win, 77-52. CSU-Pueblo controlled the glass, pulling down 44 rebounds compared to just 24 for Western New Mexico.
Angie Moore (Jr., Katy, Texas) added six points in the fourth quarter. Moore finished with a season-best 13 points off the bench.
Dee Arrieta (Sr., Pueblo West, Colo.) knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and dished out a career-best nine assists. The Pack had 21 assists as a team.
After earning her first career double-double in the Pack's victory over Western State University, Mariana Lambert (Jundiai, Brazil) secured another nine rebounds. Lambert added four points in the win.
Molly Rohrer (Fr. Greenwood Village, Colo.) batted away a pair of Mustang shots. Rohrer entered the weekend leading the RMAC in total blocks with 14.
CSU-Pueblo will try for its eighth consecutive victory Saturday night when the play New Mexico Highlands University at 5 p.m. The ThunderWolves return to Massari Arena Dec. 18-19 when they host Fort Lewis College and Adams State University. Both games begin at 5:30 p.m.
Pack Athletics will be hosting a toy drive during these home games. Fans who bring a toy to Massari Arena Dec.18-19 will receive free admission to both men's and women's basketball games that day.
