Box Score DENVER, Colo. (November 28, 2015) – The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's basketball team cruised to a 73-54 win over the Concordia University (Ore.) Cavaliers. With their victory, the Pack extended their win streak to five games as they swept their competition in the Holiday Inn Denver Cherry Creek Classic.
Molly Rohrer (Fr., Greenwood Village, Colo.) controlled the paint, scoring 24 points. The freshman made 66.7 percent of her shots from the field (10-for-15). She also added two blocks in the win.
Rohrer came out on fire in the first half. The freshman provided eight points in the first quarter, but four 3-pointers allowed Concordia to take an 18-17 lead after one.
The second quarter saw more Rohrer shots fall. Rohrer added another eight points in the second to lead all scorers with 16 at halftime. As a team the Pack went 6-for-11 from the field (54.5 percent) in the second quarter to carry a 36-32 lead into the break.
In the third quarter, the Pack put some more distance between themselves and the Cavaliers. Mariana Lambert (Sr., Jundlai, Brazil) led the way for the Pack with six points in the third as CSU-Pueblo padded its lead to 56-46 entering the final frame. Lambert finished a career-best 13 points. She drained all four of her free throws.
The Pack swarmed Concordia in the fourth quarter, with a 10-2 run to start the last stanza. They would eventually ride a 17-8 advantage in the fourth to 73-51 win.
Rohrer collected another eight points in the fourth to finish with a game-high 24. Rohrer's 24-point effort also marked highest point total of the season for any Pack player. The freshman has scored 10 or more points in every game this season.
The Pack made 85.7 percent of their free throws in the win. CSU-Pueblo hit 91.1 percent (31-for-34) of their shots from the line in this weekend's tournament.
Tuileisu Anderson (So., Vancouver, Wash.) snagged four steals in the win. As a team the Pack had 11 steals, compared to just five for Concordia.
Ashley Piper (Sr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa) led the Pack with eight rebounds. The Pack dominated the game in paint, where they outscored Concordia 44-20. CSU-Pueblo had 10 second chance points compared to zero for the Cavaliers.
The ThunderWolves also knocked down 52.3 percent of their shots in the second half. They have now shot above 50 percent in a half in three consecutive games. The Pack also limited the Cavaliers to 30.8 percent from the field in final 20 minutes.
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play begins next weekend for the Pack. They will visit Western State College Saturday Dec. 5 with the tip off set for 5:00p.m.
