PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com – Mar. 9, 2014) — The Colorado State University-Pueblo women's tennis team split their spring season and home-openers, defeating Colorado College, 6-3 before falling to 46th-ranked St. Edward's (Texas), 7-2, Sunday at the Pueblo City Park courts.

In the morning match against the Colorado College Tigers, the ThunderWolves overcame a 2-1 deficit after the doubles matches to win five of the six singles matches and to claim the team win.  Toni Alvarez (So., Pueblo, Colo.), who took out CC's Mary Edman at No. 1, Teresa Haro (So., Monument, Colo.) and Brittani Trevithick (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) all won in straight sets while Sarah Coy (Fr., Pueblo West, Colo.) came from a set down to win at No. 3 to help seal the victory.  Brooke Trevithick (So., Pueblo, Colo.) also won a third set tiebreaker to claim her win at No. 6.

Haro and Brittani Trevithick also claimed dominating straight-set wins in the afternoon match against the Hilltoppers, who had won all three doubles matches before taking each of the No. 1-4 singles matches.  Haro defeated Breanne Hesseltine (6-0, 6-2) at No. 5 while Trevithick won 6-0, 6-1 over Tatiana Marchizano at No. 6 singles.

The ThunderWolves, who went 2-5 in dual-meet matches during the fall season, will remain at home for their next match, facing Wartburg (Iowa) on Wednesday.
