Undefeated Jets too much for ThunderWolf women

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com – Mar. 21, 2014) — The Newman University Jets of Wichita, Kan. remained undefeated as they posted a 9-0 women's tennis win over the Colorado State University-Pueblo ThunderWolves on Friday afternoon at the Pueblo City Park courts.

The Jets, now 14-0 on the season, won all but one set throughout the dual, against the Pack, who fell to 5-7 overall and to 3-2 this spring.

Sarah Coy (Fr., Pueblo West, Colo.), put up the best fight for the ThunderWolves as she took Taylor Jordan to a split-set tiebreaker in the No. 3 singles match.  However, Jordan pulled out the 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 10-6 win after she and Kirstie Symon had scored an 8-3 No. 1 doubles win over Toni Alvarez (So., Pueblo, Colo.) and Coy.

Symon, who is currently 20th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's South Central Regional Singles Rankings, won her No. 1 match over Alvarez, 6-0, 6-1.  The Jets are ranked sixth in the region by the ITA.

The ThunderWolves will remain at home for their next two matches and will face Arizona Christian next Friday (Mar. 28) at 9 a.m.
