Machado named RMAC Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com – Mar. 13, 2014) — Colorado State University-Pueblo freshman Emir Machado (Caracas, Venezuela) was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced Wednesday.

Machado, who joined the Pack program this spring, posted a pair of  No. 2 singles wins and went 1-1 at No. 1 doubles on Sunday as the ThunderWolves played their first home matches of the season on Sunday.  Machado defeated Levi Kimmel of Colorado College in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) helping the Pack to a 9-0 victory.  He then claimed a 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 win over Felix Bake of St. Edward's (Texas) helping the Pack stay close before falling, 5-4 to the 24th-ranked Hilltoppers.

In doubles, Machado teamed with Saul Shrom (Sr., Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) at No. 1 doubles.  The pair defeated Jason Gutierrez and Casey Shaw of Colorado College, 8-3. 

On Wednesday, Machado posted another No. 2 singles win, defeating Eric Hilpert of Wartburg (Iowa), 6-3, 6-1 after teaming with Shrom for an 8-3 win over Hilpert and Koo Miyake at No. 1 doubles.
