ThunderWolves can not overcome errors in loss

by Jason Cowan

PUEBLO, Colo. (Gothunderwolves.com - Feb. 8, 2014) - After a cold weather threatening week, one in which saw the weekend playing schedule change twice, the Colorado State University-Pueblo baseball team played the season opener against West Texas A&M on Saturday.

And they may have been victims of the opening day jitters while at it.

The ThunderWolves suffered a 4-3 defeat on Saturday, although only giving up one earned run, but had five errors on the afternoon.

The ThunderWolves went into the bottom of the sixth down 3-0, but scored their first run on a fielder's choice, then error, with runners on first and third. The Pack scored again from a triple by Lonny Schoon (Sr. Colorado Springs, Colo.)  off of the right field wall in the next at bat, then tied the game 3-3 after a passed ball that scored Schoon.

West Texas A&M would take a 4-3 lead on another unearned run in the top of the eigth.

Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff transfer, catcher Eddie Williams (Sr. Castle Rock, Colo.), threw out two attempted base stealers on the afternoon, in the second and ninth, respectively.

The ThunderWolves will continue the series with a doubleheader on Sunday at the Rawlings Complex, starting at 11 a.m.
