ThunderWolves fall at home

By Jason Cowan

Sometimes basketball can be a game of nights.  And the ThunderWolves, who came into the game on Friday against the Metro State Roadrunners on a 4-game winning streak, have seen better nights.

The ThunderWolves were limited to 16 points in the first half and were victims to a 14-2 run, en- route to a 62-50 defeat against the Roadrunners on Parents' Night.

"Metro is very good defensively, that's one of the things they always do well. We didn't shoot it well, part of that was Metro, part of it was us."" said head coach Kip Drown. "I thought they were very impressive, Metro particularly offensively. They really went at us and I didn't feel like we responded with that as well as we have to."

The ThunderWolves only shot 24 percent from the field in the first half on Friday, and 30 percent on the game. Of the 50 shots taken Friday night, the Pack took 24 three-point shots, making less than 17 percent on the evening.

"I thought we got good shots, but they contest a lot of those shots, that's what good defensive teams do" Drown said. "Some nights you just tip your hat to people and say they outplayed you, and I think they just outplayed us tonight."

Up next for the ThunderWolves, who have already locked up the No. 2 seed in the RMAC, will end the regular season when they play host to Regis, tip-off will be at 5:30.

"We need some momentum going into Tuesday night; we need to get a win tomorrow night," Drown said. "Regis beat Metro twice, so it's not going to be an easy game by any means."
