ThunderWolves up early, win big

The ThunderWolves went into the game on Saturday, only scoring 13 runs total on the season, in four games, two going in extra innings.

Then they broke out, scoring that amount, and then some.

The ThunderWolves defeated the Sioux Falls (S.D) Cougars 17-1, scoring in each of the first three innings, and in four of the first six innings, including five in the first and eight in the sixth.

Leading the way for the ThunderWolves, who tallied 15 hits on the afternoon, was second baseman Austin Mascorro (Jr. Oxnard, Calif.), who went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and one walk.

Jesse Bristow (Jr. Heber, Utah) pitched six innings for the ThunderWolves on Saturday, allowing four hits, striking out seven, without giving up a run.

The ThunderWolves lost the shut out in the top of the eighth following a fielders choice that scored Michael Downs, after Downs reached base following an error, by catcher Derek Goodwin (Jr. Diamond Bar, Calif.), that came on a strike out by Austin Sylvester (Jr. Palm Desert, Calif.). Once on base, Downs stole second and third to reach scoring position.

The Pack will look to take the series in the rubber match vs. the Cougars on Sunday at noon at the Rawlings Field.
