GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - May 9, 2013) - Relying on solid pitching from Jeremiah Struble (Sr., Divide, Colo.), CSU-Pueblo claimed a 4-1 win over Metro State Thursday to advance in the RMAC Tournament.
Struble tossed a complete game six-hitter, striking out six and allowing just one earned run. He only allowed one walk, as well.
Struble was carried by a three-run Pack first inning that saw the ThunderWolves' first six batters reach base. Mario Sanchez (Jr., Tucson, Ariz.) allowed the Pack to draw first blood when he connected on a two-run single to leftfield, scoring Chase Lacomb (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.) and Cameron Buckles (Jr., Parker, Colo.). The Pack made it 3-0 when a Scott Hoyt (Jr., Longmont, Colo.) connected on an RBI-single that scored Sanchez.
From there, the Pack held strong before scoring an insurance run in the eighth on a Wade Beauvais (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) RBI-single that scored Dominick Bregar (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.), who reached base to lead off the inning.
With the win, CSU-Pueblo will play Regis at 7 p.m. Friday.
