PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - March 29, 2013) - Pitcher Mike Fabrizio's (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) win in his first start in six weeks was one of many positive story lines for the ThunderWolves Friday as the Pack swept a pair and the series from Colorado Christian, winning 9-4 and 8-1.
Fabrizio tossed five innings of five-hit ball in the second game of a twin bill, giving him his first win of the season. Fabrizio, who started the season as the ThunderWolves' top starting pitcher, has been out since Feb. 22 with an arm injury, and his easing his way back into the lineup. Fabrizio had great command, only running up 62 pitches in five innings as he was a strict pitch count.
His day headlined many other great performances by the ThunderWolves as the Pack was solid in all three phases of the game.
Evan Kenebrew (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) would go yard in the first game as part of his 3-for-6 combined showing Friday. Kenebrew came through with a homer, a triple and a single over the two games.
Scott Hoyt (Jr., Longmont, Colo.) continued his hot streak by going a combined 5-for-7 on the day, knocking in three runs and recording two doubles in the second game. Hoyt now has a 15-game hit streak and has hit safely in 22 of 25 games this season.
The wins boosted the ThunderWolves into first place in the RMAC Plains Division, jumping a half-game ahead of New Mexico Highlands, which split a pair vs. Colorado School of Mines Friday and has lost five of its past six.
CSU-Pueblo will remain on the road as it travels to face Colorado Mesa, the defending RMAC champions and the top team in the conference so far this season, next weekend.
