PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - March 15, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo came up short in several close matches as it lost 8-1 to Metro State in the first conference dual of the spring.
Tiebreaks were needed in five of nine matches, including the Pack's lone win at three-doubles, where Brooke Trevithick (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Heather Guilliams (So., Brighton, Colo.) won 9-8 over Nicole Hermann and Nikki Amos, using a 7-4 tiebreak for the win.
In the four tiebreak singles matches, though, each broke for Metro State. Another win was almost pulled out at six-singles Martina Gilmore (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.), but she lost on a close 11-9 tiebreak. Katie Howe (So., Pueblo, Colo.), Toni Alvarez (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Gia Montoya (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) at two-, four-, and five-singles, respectively.
In what was the Pack's lone match of the week, CSU-Pueblo will face Metro State again, this time in Denver, next Friday.
