Fabrizio shuts down Christian, engineers win

Pack stays in first place tie after win.

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - April 5, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo pitcher Mike Fabrizio (So., Pueblo, Colo.) threw seven innings of shutout ball Thursday as CSU-Pueblo downed Colorado Christian 5-2.

Fabrizio scattered six hits over seven innings, striking out two as the Pack built a 5-0 lead when he left the game after seven innings.  The ThunderWolves' ace improved to 6-2 on the season with the win.

He got support from effective hitting, which included a 2-for-4 game from J.T. Greenhood (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.), who ran his hit streak to 19 games Thursday.  Chris Schindler (Sr., San Mateo, Calif.) and Derek DiCarlo (Sr., Louisville, Colo.) also turned in two-hit performances, with DiCarlo netting two doubles.

With the win, CSU-Pueblo improves to 19-12 overall and 16-5 in conference play, remaining in a tie with Colorado Mesa atop the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.  Thursday, Mesa won as well, defeating Nebraska-Kearney 14-4.

CSU-Pueblo will square off with Christian Friday in a doubleheader with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
