PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - March 11, 2012) - A walk-off single by junior Curtis Cowell (Jr., Monrovia, Calif.) in the bottom of the ninth inning led the Pack to a 6-5 win over Colorado Mesa Sunday.
Entering the final inning deadlocked at 5-5, an Andrew Castaneda (Sr., San Jose, Calif.) double, followed by two walks, set the stage for Cowell's heroics. Cowell fired a single to centerfield with one out and the bases loaded to keep the Mavericks stranded on the field.
Reliever Kyle Ginter (Jr., Chino Hills, Calif.) improved to 2-1 with the win, striking out four in three innings of work. Starter Kyle Clemens (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) allowed six Mesa hits over six innings of work.
Offensively, J.T. Greenhood (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) led the Pack, recording an three-run triple in the third inning, which gave the Pack a 3-1 lead, an advantage it wouldn't relinquish.
CSU-Pueblo will travel to Regis for a non-conference showdown Tuesday before returning home to host Metro State for a weekend series, the first game of which taking place Friday at 6 p.m.
