CSU-Pueblo will try to avoid series sweep Sunday.
SAN ANGELO, Tex. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 25, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo continued its struggles at the plate Saturday, dropping both in a doubleheader with Angelo State.
The ThunderWolves were shut out for its second straight game, losing the opener 4-0 before knocking in a few in a losing effort, falling 7-3 in the late game.
The ThunderWolves mustered just three hits - all singles - and had just three total baserunners in the early game. Only Curtis Cowell (Jr., Monrovia, Calif.) broke the hex of Angelo State pitcher, Rick Reyna, going 2-for-2, while the rest of the Pack lineup went a combined 1-for-22.
In the late game, CSU-Pueblo would jump out to a 2-0 lead at one point in the second inning, but seven straight Angelo State runs doomed the Pack. Chase Lacomb (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) went 2-for-3 and J.T. Greenhood (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) reached base in all four of his plate appearances, resulting in two runs, but 13 stranded runners was the most excruciating stat of the day for the Pack.
The Pack will wrap up its series with Angelo State Sunday afternoon with a nine-inning contest.
