LAKEWOOD, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Apr. 8, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo baseball team got back to its winning ways with two victories over Colorado Christian Friday. The Pack opened up the four game series with two victories in a doubleheader, winning the first game 10-2 and claiming a victory in the second game 9-7.
Jeremiah Struble (So., Divide, Colo.) pitched a gem in the first game going a full nine innings and only giving up two runs on eight hits. Struble received help from Andrew Castaneda (RJr. San Jose, Calif.) and J.T. Greenhood (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) in the victory who combined for six runs.
The Thunderwolves struck early and often scoring four runs through the first five innings before the Cougars got on the board. They finished off Colorado Christian late in the game by scoring two runs in the seventh and eighth inning to seal the victory.
The second game of the doubleheader was closer with Colorado Christian gaining an early lead through three innings. The Pack answered with a four-run fourth inning before giving up the lead again in the fifth.
CSU-Pueblo responded with a huge seventh inning capped off by a three-run homerun by Beau Stevens. The inning proved to be pivotal as Tim Pomierski (Jr., Upland, Calif.) pitched a flawless two innings to get the win for the Thunderwolves.
The Pack improved to 17-15 overall and 12-10 in the conference. They will look for a sweep of the Cougars with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
