Strong pitching and consistent offense helps propel Pack to four-game sweep
PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 6, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo completed a weekend sweep over Colorado School of Mines Sunday by defeating the Orediggers 9-7 and 6-1 in a doubleheader.
Leading the Pack in the first game was Jason Veyna (Sr., Lamar, Colo), who led the Pack with a homerun to cap off a four run fourth inning. J.T. Greenhood (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) also contributed on the offensive side going 2-for-4, which included a double and a triple and 2 RBIs.
The Pack played consistenly on the offensive end, scoring at least one run in every inning except two.
Starting pitcher, Jeremiah Struble (So, Divide, Colo.), pitched a solid six innings giving up six runs but was relieved by Tim Pomierski (Jr., Upland, Calif.) who pitched three innings, giving up only one run on one hit.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Pack were led by a quality start from Nick Cervantes (Jr., Placentia, Calif.). Cervantes pitched six innings giving up only one run on six hits to get the win for the Pack.
Greenhood again came up huge offensively, hitting a bomb over the left field wall to give the ThunderWolves some breathing room. Greenhood finished the game going 1-for-2 with 3 RBIs.
The Pack will hope to continue their run as they return to the field Tuesday to play Regis. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and will be a nine inning affair.
