ThunderWolves get vengeance over Metro State ace.

DENVER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 18, 2011) - The last time CSU-Pueblo faced Metro State ace Jake Draeger, the result wasn't pretty.

The Pack was two-hit in a 7-2 non-conference drubbing Feb. 26 as Draeger hung 10 strikeouts on the ThunderWolves.

Friday, it was a completely different story.

CSU-Pueblo torched Draeger for six runs on 10 hits, sitting the Roadrunners' best arm after just five innings as the ThunderWolves teed off in a 13-5 win over Metro State at Auraria Field.

Four Pack batters recorded three hits as the ThunderWolves hit safely 16 times.  The two biggest headline-makers were J.T. Greenhood (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.), who smashed the Pack's only home run and added two doubles, scoring three times during a 3-for-4 day, and Andrew Castaneda (Jr., San Jose, Calif.), who kept up his hot streak by going 3-for-5, also adding a pair of doubles and driving home four runs.  Greenhood had the day's biggest hit, as it was his RBI double that put the ThunderWolves up for good in the 5th inning.

Jason Veyna (Sr., Lamar, Colo.) and Joe Manders (Sr., Louisville, Colo.) also added three hits apiece.

On the mound, Cole Stephens (Sr., Amarillo, Tex.) threw six strong innings, giving up just four hits.  He was shaky to start, giving up a three run bomb during the first inning.  But he settled down afterward, giving up just two runs on two hits for the remainder of the game.

The ThunderWolves agains got a save from Tim Pomierski (Jr., Upland, Calif.), who turned in his third three-inning save this season.  So far this season, Pomierski is an amazing 1-0 with three saves and a 0.00 ERA in 16 innings pitched.

CSU-Pueblo will try to continue their level of play Saturday when it tussles with Metro State in a double-dip in Denver.
