PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 12, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo's women's tennis squad got wins from its top of the order players Saturday, but couldn't get the team decision, losing to Metro State 6-3.
Morgan Forsyth (Jr., Parker, Colo.) and Andrea Ortiz (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) each emerged from Saturday's competition 2-0, getting both singled and doubles wins. The duo joined to best Metro's one-doubles combo of Nikki Amos and Alicia Holm 8-4.
In singles play, Forsyth took down Holm 6-3, 6-2 at one-singles and Ortiz defeated Nicole Herrmann 6-2, 7-5.
The team decision was a far cry from its fall meeting with the Roadrunners, when the ThunderWolves lost 8-1.
"We play them a couple more time this spring, so I am hoping to keep getting better against them and hopefully get a win," Pack coach Brad Gerler said. "I am happy with our progress so far and we hope it continues as we build toward the RMAC tournament."
