GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 11, 2011) - Game one of this weekend's pivotal series with Mesa State didn't begin as planned for the ThunderWolves, falling 15-2 to the rival Mavericks.
The Pack fell behind early, going down 1-0 as Mesa State pushed a runner across on stolen base attempt at second base.
After the Pack tied it at 1-1 when J.T. Greenhood (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) tripled then later scored on a base knock by Craig Davis (Sr., Westminster, Colo.), Mesa State put up two in the second inning, and kept piling on.
The Mavericks scored at least one run in each inning except one, effectively inflating the ERAs of the four Pack pitchers that saw mound time Friday.
CSU-Pueblo will get three more cracks at the Mavericks this weekend, beginning Saturday at 4:30 p.m. with a doubleheader at Mesa State's Suplizio Field.
