Ramm's career-high helps the Pack fight past Highlands

Sophomore's 22 points powers ThunderWolves to fourth straight win.

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Dec. 17, 2011) - The CSU-Pueblo women's basketball team was back to their usual ways Saturday, using strong defensive pressure to defeat New Mexico Highlands 67-54.

The Pack held the Cowgirls to 29 percent shooting and behind Paige Ramm's (So., Prescott, Ariz.) career-high 22-points, were able to improve to 8-2 and 5-1 in RMAC play on the young season.

The Pack used a zone defense to bother the opponent and force them into bad shots constantly throughout the night. To open the game, the ThunderWolves were able to hold the Cowgirls on a 0-for-19 streak for 3-pointers.

In the second half, the Cowgirls picked up the intensity and tried to use their physicality to muscle past the Pack. But Kendall Babler (Sr., Rifle, Colo.) hit three 3-pointers and used her senior leadership to fight passed the physical play.

Babler finished with 19 points and four assists for the Pack.

Ramm was terrific all-around, moving all over the court to collect her points. To go along with her career high in points, she added a team-high six rebounds.

Alyssa Lopez had a solid game for the Cowgirls hitting four second-half 3-pointers, helping her finish with a team-high 22-points.

The Pack did a great job of protecting the paint throughout the night, even barring the physical play presented by Highlands. The bench play was huge for CSU-Pueblo as they accounted for 34 points behind Ramm's superb play.

CSU-Pueblo will now be on a short holiday before they resume play at home against rival UC-Colorado Springs. The game will be at 1 p.m. on January 31.
