Lax second half does Pack in.

DENVER, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 14, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo was within a hair of handing the first loss of the season to 21st-ranked Metro State Friday - but then the second half happened - as a 35-33 game at halftime exploded into a 74-47 Metro State win.

The ThunderWolves opened up a 9-0 run to start the game, taking a 9-3 lead and playing neck-and-neck with the Roadrunners to the break, trailing by just two and shooting nearly 60 percent from the field at the break. 

But an epically bad second-half hit the ThunderWolves.  CSU-Pueblo was bit by the turnover bug, eventually turning the ball over 19 times.  It also didn't help that Metro State, the top rebounding team in the country, victimized the Pack on the glass 46-25.  Indivudally, not a single ThunderWolf scored in double digits.

"We played one of our best 20-minute halves of basketball in the first half, and I thought we were aggressive and shot well," Pack coach Kip Drown said of the first half performance.

"But everything you don't want to do against a good basketball team, we did in the second half.  We beat ourselves."

The ThunderWolves' road gets no easier - its gets Regis tomorrow night, where the Pack will look for its first win on the Rangers' home floor since 1991.
