RMAC Tournament: #5 CSU-Pueblo 13, #6 Regis 3
KEARNEY, Neb. - CSU-Pueblo put it together in a big way Thursday
in an RMAC Tournament elimination game vs. Regis, stringing
together 15 hits and claiming a 13-3 win over the Rangers.
With the win, the ThunderWolves will play at approximately 5
p.m. CST against Mesa State in another elimination game.
The ThunderWolves started strong, scoring three in the first
inning. A two-run double by Jon Proesl (Sr.,
California City, Calif.) did the most damage, followed by
an RBI-double by Juan Martinez (Sr.,
Caricuao, Venezuela) that put the Pack up 3-0.
The lead was extended to 5-0 when Mark Sayas (Sr., Las
Vegas, Nev.) fired a two run bomb to left field, leaving
the ThunderWolves in the drivers' seat for the day.
On the bump, Josh
Herback-South (Sr., Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada) held
it down for the Pack, going eight innings and allowing just six
hits. He only gave up one extra base hit, and at one point
retired nine straight Regis batters.
A healthy five Pack batters turned in two-hit games, headlined
by Sayas' 2-for-5 performance with a double, a homer and three runs
scored. Second baseman Mike Sanchez (Sr.,
Pueblo, Colo.) also ran his hit streak to 13 games after
his eighth inning RBI single.
