Game 1: Metro State 9, CSU-Pueblo 7
Game 2: Metro State 6, CSU-Pueblo 5
DENVER - CSU-Pueblo had trouble finishing games Friday at Metro
State, losing the opener 9-7 on a walk-off home run and the
nightcap 6-5 when a 7th inning rally came up short.
The ThunderWolves rallied from a 7-5 deficit in the final inning
of game one when Metro State all but gave CSU-Pueblo two runs on a
passed ball and an error. But the ThunderWolves couldn't cash
in on that good fortune as the Roadrunners fired a pinch-hit home
run over the fence to win the game in dramatic fashion, 9-7.
In the second game, CSU-Pueblo was in much the same
situation. The ThunderWolves trailed 6-2 going into the top
of the 7th inning, and managed to get an encouraging rally going,
getting three runs across and having runners at first and second
with one out. But a fly out and strike out killed the Pack
rally, and with it the ThunderWolves' chances of a series win over
Metro State.
With one game remaining in the series, CSU-Pueblo drops to 15-15
and 9-8 in the RMAC while Metro State is 14-14 but with a much
better 11-6 mark in RMAC play. The Pack, having lost five of
its last six, will look to even the series tomorrow, with first
pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
