CSU-Pueblo 15, Colorado Mines 1
PUEBLO, Colo. - Buoyed by a stable of hot bats and
second consecutive dominant start by ace Dillon Meaney
(Sr., Westminster, Colo.), CSU-Pueblo mounted a 15-1 win
over Colorado Mines Friday.
The win boosts the Pack record to 10-9 overall and an RMAC
Plains Division-best 5-2 so far in 2010.
Meaney hurled seven innings for the Pack, striking out seven and
allowing just three hits.
On the offensive side, Mark Sayas (Sr., Las Vegas,
Nev.) continued his hot streak at the plate, going 4-for-5
and scoring two runs from the leadoff position. He was joined
on the offensive leaderboard by Jerry Salazar (Sr., Pueblo,
Colo.), who was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double,
netting four RBIs.
Amazingly, it was CSU-Pueblo that started off slow, falling to a
1-0 lead Meaney allowed two hits in the opening frame. Meaney
then retired 18 of the next 21 batters while CSU-Pueblo had scored
in each inning from the second through the fifth.
The ThunderWolves will look to build upon Friday's win when it
concludes its series with Mines Saturday with a doubleheader
starting at noon.
