Drown claims school win record as Pack downs Panhandle

ThunderWolves claim 75-53 win as Drowns wins 107th game at CSU-Pueblo.

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Dec. 13, 2010) - CSU-Pueblo head women's basketball coach, Kip Drown, helmed the ThunderWolves to a 75-53 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State Monday night, giving him his 107th win at CSU-Pueblo, making him the winningest coach in program history.

In a night that saw every active ThunderWolf player see floor time, the Pack opened up an early lead and never relented.  After trailing for all of 73 seconds to open the game, CSU-Pueblo overcame a cold start to create numerous opportunities, especially in the paint and on the fast break.

As a result, the Pack shot 45 percent from the field for the game, coming through with 16 assists and out-boarding the Aggied 39-37.

Wing Kendall Babler (Jr., Rifle, Colo.), who entered Monday's game leading the nation in assist/turnover ratio, kept up her hot streak, coming through with seven assists to just two turnovers.  She made a number of dishes to true freshman Taylor Fox (Fr., Santa Cruz, Calif.), who put up a career-high 18 points and also led the team with seven rebounds.

The win put Drown ahead of the pioneer of the ThunderWolves' basketball program, Jessie Banks, who coached the women's basketball team from 1966 to 1985, competing in the Intercollegiate Association of Women's Athletics (AIAW) until 1978, when women's basketball was finally embraced by the RMAC as an official sport.  She claimed 106 wins from 1973 to 1985, which is the time frame in which records were available.

CSU-Pueblo has two more games - conference tilts at Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands this weekend - before shutting it down for the remainder of break.
