KEARNEY, Neb. (GoThunderWolves.com - Oct. 3,
2010) - In a bizarre morning of championship tennis,
CSU-Pueblo's Anthony Breitenbach was one of two semifinalists to
suffer an injury default loss in their match, ending the Pack
sophomore's bid for an ITA title.
Facing perhaps the RMAC's top singles player in Western New
Mexico Yair Banuelos, the top seed in the ITA Central Regionals,
Breitenbach fell 6-0 in the first set before his arm tightened up
in the second set, ending his day.
Coincidentally, on the other side of the bracket, an injury
default also decided the victor.
Breitenbach was one of many bright spots for CSU-Pueblo in the
ITA Regionals, qualifying for the doubles consolation championship
with partner, Ivan Aragona. Freshman Saul Shrom also was
strong, winning the consolation championship in the tournament.
