Pack tunes up vs. CCU, gets set for WNMU

CSU-Pueblo 9, Colorado Christian 0

SILVER CITY, N.M. - CSU-Pueblo scored a 9-0 shutout of Colorado Christian Friday, the team's final tune-up before the biggest matches of the season vs. Western New Mexico Saturday and Metro State Monday.

The ThunderWolves recorded its eighth win in its past ten matches, improving to 5-1 in RMAC play with the win.  Over its past three RMAC matches, the ThunderWolves haven't surrendered more than one individual match to its opponent.  It's 9-0 win was its second shutout victory in its past three RMAC matches.

CSU-Pueblo was nothing short of dominant, building on two forfeit losses by the Cougars, a retirement win in favor of Philipp Penkatzki (Sr., Bottrop, Germany) at No. 1 singles, and cruising to wins in the rest of the matches.

The ThunderWolves didn't surrender more than two games to Colorado Christian singles players, and scored a pair of 8-3 wins in the doubles matches.

The win sets the stage for the season's final two matches against the top RMAC teams in the Pack's way for a conference regular season title, Western New Mexico and Metro State.

Earlier this season, CSU-Pueblo lost to Western New Mexico 5-4 in its only RMAC loss of the season.  Metro State is currently leading the conference and is undefeated in conference play.

The ThunderWolves will try to unseat WNMU Saturday on the Mustangs' home court in RMAC pod play at Silver City before heading to Denver Monday to take on the Roadrunners in what could be a defacto RMAC Regular Season Championship match.
