CSU-Pueblo 59, Chadron State 48
CHADRON, Neb. - CSU-Pueblo, despite shooting just 29 percent
from the field, forced enough errors to stay comfortably ahead of
Chadron State all night long, defeating the Eagles 59-48.
The main thing that made the Pack's poor shooting, highlighted
by a 2-for-20 performance from the three-point line, bearable in
any way is the fact that the ThunderWolves held the Eagles to 28
percent in the game.
CSU-Pueblo made early noise, starting off strong with a 13-0 run
and essentially ending the game just six minutes into the first
half. As a result of the quick start, CSU-Pueblo never led
by any less than eight throughout the game.
The ThunderWolves were led by Rachel Espinoza (Jr.,
Pueblo, Colo.), who put the Pack on her back in her
game-high 17-point effort. Espinoza was a healthy 6-for-11,
recording three steals and six boards. Unfortunately, the
brick bug was felt by every other member of the CSU-Pueblo roster,
as no other ThunderWolves managed to shoot at 50 percent or
better. Combined, the ThunderWolves were just 15-for-68 not
counting Espinoza.
Additionally, Katrina Selsor (Fr., Glenwood Springs,
Colo.) took down a career-high in rebounds with 11.
She headed a 52-rebound effort by the ThunderWolves, the highest
single-game boards output in nearly two seasons.
CSU-Pueblo will shoot for a sweep, as well as the program's
first ever road win at Nebraska-Kearney Saturday.
