CSU-Pueblo
63, Metro State 54
It was supposed to be an accepted truth that the ThunderWolves
did not have an established post player. But Friday, behind
sophomore Amanda Bartlett (So., Kiowa, Colo.), who
had a career night, dominating with inside-out play, the
ThunderWolves established control early and earned the 63-54 win
over Metro State.
Bartlett scored a career-high 21 points, 10 coming in the second
half. Bartlett led all scorers, and was the team leader in
rebounds with eight, two away from her first career double-double.
The ThunderWolves relied strongly on a short game, doing away
with the three-point shot, which was only 3-for-14 on the night,
and opting instead for jump shots and high percentage shots.
As a result, the Pack, which had not shot above 31 percent from the
field on each of their past three outings, was 44 percent from the
field.
The ThunderWolves also won the rebound war in a tame game on the
glass, out-boarding the Roadrunners 35-33.
The Pack's win raises their record to 10-4 overall and 4-2 in
conference play. The ThunderWolves will continue their road
trip Saturday night when they visit Regis.
