Staines ran a 1:51.34 800m time at the Colorado Running Company/UCCS Invite to start the indoor season with a win.

The effort was converted to 1:48.78 to rank No. 1 in NCAA Division II and establish an NCAA automatic qualifying time.

His raw time sits third nationally among all divisions.
