Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year ... Won three NCAA Division II national championships in 2019, twice as an individual in the 800m run and once with the distance medley relay team … Helped the men's track and field team tie for 10th at both the indoor and outdoor national championships for just the fourth and fifth top 10 performances in program history ... Traveled to Vanderbilt University May 31 and ran the elite race of the 800m at the Music City Distance Carnival … With the field littered with professionals and some of the top collegiate athletes in the nation, Staines clocked a time of 1:45.67 to hit a World Championships qualifying standard … Ran in a Diamond League race and competed in the 800m race at the British Championships in August … Totaled three First Team All-American awards … Named the USTFCCCA South Central Region Track Athlete of the Year for both indoor and outdoor championships … Collected three all-region awards … Won four RMAC Championships, three with relay teams and was a four-time All-RMAC First Team selection … Finished the indoor and outdoor seasons with the top 800m time in NCAA Division II … Established an NCAA Division II indoor all-conditions record.
 
2019 Outdoor (Jr.): NCAA Division II National Champion in the 800m … USTFCCCA South Central Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year … All-Region in the 800m and 4x400m relay … RMAC Champion and All-RMAC First Team with the 4x400m relay squad and in the 400m dash … USTFCCCA National Track Athlete of the Week (May 14) … RMAC Track Athlete of the Week (April 1) … Preseason All-RMAC … Automatic time of 1:47.53 in the 800m run was the fastest in NCAA Division II and ranked 14th among all collegiate divisions this season … Anchored the 4x400m relay squad to an automatic time and school record of 3:08.82 to punch their ticket to the national meet … The relay team owned the seventh fastest time in DII this season … Ran a 47.57 400m time to post a provisional time and sit 34th in Division II.

2019 Indoor (Jr.): NCAA Division II National Champion in the 800m and DMR… USTFCCCA South Central Region Track Athlete of the Year ... USTFCCCA All-Region in the 800m … RMAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for the second straight season … RMAC Champion with the DMR and 4x400m relay team … All-RMAC First Team with the DMR and the 4x400m squad …. USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week and RMAC Track Athlete of the Week on Feb. 11 … Owns the seventh fastest time in the world and third among all college divisions this season in the 800m with his time of 1:46.27 … Ran the time at the GVSU Big Meet - Friday to establish an NCAA Division II all-conditions record … Runs the mile leg of the DMR which owned the sixth fastest time in NCAA Division II this season … Also runs the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay team, which had the 20th fastest time in NCAA Division II this season … Both relay squads were RMAC Champions, while the 4x400m relay established a new RMAC Championships record … Staines also ran the 600m in 1:15.31 to break the British record … The mark was the fastest in the world at the time and now ranks third this season and tied for 10th all-time.

2018 Outdoor (So.): NCAA Division II Outdoor National Champion in the 800m ... Recorded a Championships meet record and school record time of 1:46.56 to earn All-American honors ... National qualifier in the 800m and with the 4x400m relay team … Ran to second team All-America honors at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 800m ... Was the NCAA Indoor National Champion in the 800m … USTFCCCA All-Region in four events (400m, 800m, 1500m, 4x400m relay) … RMAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year ... All-RMAC First Team in the 800m and with the 4x400m relay team ... Converted 800m time of 1:47.55 in his run to the RMAC Championship was the best in NCAA Division II this outdoor season … His time was a meet record and new school record … Was fifth nationally with an automatic time in the 400m dash (46.19) and 12th in the division in the 1500m run (3:47.26) … Anchored the 4x400m relay team all season long and guided them to a time of 3:09.72 at the Bryan Clay Invitational to rank eighth nationally … Also a member of the 4x400m relay team that won the RMAC Championship and established a new meet record … USTFCCCA NCAA Division II National Athlete of the Week (May 1) … RMAC Track Athlete of the Week (April 2).

2018 Indoor (So): National Champion in the 800m run with a time of 1:47.23 to break the Division II national meet record and rank second all-time in Division II ... NCAA All-American in the 800m and with the DMR, after the squad raced to a runner-up time of 9:41.84, just 0.44 seconds off the winning time ... National qualifier in the 800m and ran the 1200m leg of the DMR ... USTFCCCA South Central Region Track Athlete of the Year ... USTFCCCA All-Region (400m, 800m, DMR) ... RMAC Track Athlete of the Year ... All-RMAC First Team in the mile ... Ran to the fastest 800m time in NCAA Division II and the third fastest time in the division's history at the Colorado Invitational (Feb. 3) ... His time of 1:47.82 was converted to 1:47.12, an automatic mark that also established a school record and earned Staines not only RMAC Runner of the Week honors, but USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week recognition ... The DMR ran a converted time of 9:46.78 at the Mines D-II Invite & Multi, an automatic time that enters the national championships fourth in Division II ... Also established a NCAA provisional time (9th nationally) and school record in the 400m dash with a time of 47.58 at the GVSU Big Meet - Saturday (Feb. 10) ... Had the 15th fastest mile this season with a provisional time of 4:05.85 at the GVSU Big Meet - Friday (Feb. 9).

2017 Outdoor (Fr.): USTFCCCA All-American Second Team ... Was 10th of 19 athletes in the 800m with a preliminary time of 1:52.01 ... 2x All-RMAC Awards with the 4x400m relay team (2nd) and in the 800m (5th). 

2017 Indoor (Fr.): USTFCCA All-American Second Team ... Ran the 800m in 1:54.20 to finish 12th ... USTFCCCA All-Region in the 800m ... RMAC Champion with the DMR and the 4x400m relay team ... All-RMAC First Team with the DMR and 4x400m relay. 

Cheyenne Mountain HS: Runs the 800m and 1600m for the Indians ... Beat a loaded field of runners at Mullen Runners Roost Invitational April 9, including the defending 4A state champion ... PR times: 800m - 1.54.5, 1600m - 4.19.2.

Personal: Son of Gary and Linda Staines ... Parents, Gary and Linda, were Olympic distance runners for England in 1988 in Seoul... Intends to major in automotive industry management at CSU-Pueblo.
