COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 2, 2026) – Colorado State University Pueblo's women's golf, women's indoor and women's outdoor track and field teams have won the Brechler Award from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for achieving the highest team GPA in the conference during the 2025-26 academic year.
The Brechler Award, which is named after Paul W. Brechler, the first Commissioner of the RMAC (1976-1990), recognizes the top team grade-point-average of each of the RMAC's 21 sponsored sports and has been awarded annually since 2012-13, except 2019-20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the 2025-26 academic year, the women's golf team, which Tammy Lim coached during the fall and John Wristen during the spring, recorded a 3.866 overall cumulative GPA, while the women's indoor track and field team and women's outdoor track and field teams, which are coached by
Matt Morris, recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.693, respectively.
"Congratulations to our women's golf and women's indoor and outdoor track and field programs on an outstanding year. Their success in competition was consistently impressive, but their achievements in the classroom are more meaningful," said
Dr. Paul Plinske, CSU Pueblo Vice President of Athletics and Strategic Partnerships. "These honors reflect the commitment, discipline, and character of our student-athletes, as well as the leadership of our coaches, who emphasize excellence in every aspect of the student-athlete experience."
It marks the first time that the Pack women's golf team and women's indoor track and field teams have been honored with a Brechler Award from the RMAC, while the women's outdoor track and field team also earned the award in 2016-17.
The Pack has now had at least one of its athletic teams recognized with a Brechler Award for the fifth consecutive school year. The three teams honored this year are the most since the 2016-17 school year, when the men's tennis, men's indoor track and field, men's outdoor track and field, and women's outdoor track and field teams were recognized.
CSU Pueblo was one of 11 schools in the 15-team RMAC to have at least one of its teams earn a Brechler Award for the 2025-26 school year. Colorado Mesa led the way with six teams recognized, while CSU Pueblo was second with three programs honored, and Colorado Christian, Regis, UCCS, and Western Colorado each had two teams recognized. Black Hills State, Colorado School of Mines, MSU Denver, South Dakota Mines, and Westminster each had one team recognized.
Since the award began in 2012-13, CSU Pueblo Athletics has had 16 of its athletic teams recognized, with men's tennis earning the most honors with three (2012-13, 2016-17, 2017-18). Women's outdoor track and field, volleyball and men's cross country have each been honored twice.
The winners of the 2025-26 Brechler Awards will be presented their plaques at the 2026 RMAC Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet, which is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, at COS City Hub in Colorado Springs, Colo. The team GPAs were submitted to the RMAC by each of the institutions' compliance administrators.
