Josh Koschke Named Director of Golf to Lead CSU Pueblo Men's and Women's Programs

PUEBLO, Colo. (July 16, 2026) – Colorado State University Pueblo Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships Dr. Paul Plinske has announced that longtime men's golf head coach Josh Koschke has been named the ThunderWolves' Director of Golf, overseeing the continued growth and success of the University's men's and women's golf programs.

Koschke has established himself as one of the premier golf coaches in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, leading the ThunderWolves to conference championships, NCAA postseason appearances and national rankings while building both CSU Pueblo golf programs into perennial regional and national contenders.

"Following the conclusion of our men's and women's golf seasons, we made the difficult but necessary decision to consolidate the two head coach positions into a single Director of Golf role. Our goal was to create greater operational efficiency while continuing to provide strong support for our two outstanding programs," Plinske said. "After a thorough search that included several highly qualified candidates, we ultimately decided to promote longtime and successful coach Josh Koschke into the position. While some may question why Josh participated in in the interview process given his proven success at CSU Pueblo, it was important that we conducted a comprehensive search and gave both our men's and women's student-athletes an opportunity to provide input in the future of this program. We also wanted to evaluate each candidate's vision for leading a unified golf program.

"It was important to me that we bring these two programs together under one leader while continuing to strength each program individually. Josh demonstrated that vision through his consistent record of success, extensive knowledge of the RMAC and NCAA Division II landscape, strong relationships with alumni and local supporters and his ability to lead our golf programs through this transition. The Pack family is excited to have Josh leading both our men's and women's programs as our new Director of Golf."

As Director of Golf, Koschke will provide strategic oversight for both programs. His responsibilities will include program administration, recruiting, fundraising, alumni engagement, community outreach and the continued development of one of the RMAC's premier golf programs.

"I am honored to once again lead Pack Golf," Koschke said. "I look forward to uniting both programs and bringing our student-athletes together under one vision. We have built a culture of excellence, and our goal is to continue competing for conference and national championships while providing an outstanding experience for every student-athlete. Pack Golf is alive and well."

The ThunderWolves are coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history. The women's golf team claimed its fourth consecutive RMAC Championship, hosted the NCAA Division II West Regional at Pueblo Country Club and advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships for the first time in program history at PGA National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The men's team spent much of the 2025-26 season ranked among the nation's Top 20, earned a berth in the NCAA Division II South Central/West Super Regional and advanced senior Archie Wyatt to the NCAA Division II National Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.

Koschke enters his latest leadership role after building one of the nation's most respected Division II golf programs. Since taking over the men's program in 2009, he has guided the ThunderWolves to three RMAC Championships (2011, 2021 and 2022), earned three RMAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year honors and led the program to nine consecutive NCAA Regional appearances.

While overseeing both programs, Koschke also elevated the women's team into one of the conference's elite programs. The ThunderWolves captured the 2019 RMAC Championship and have produced four RMAC individual champions, four RMAC Golfers of the Year and numerous All-RMAC selections. His efforts earned him RMAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year honors in 2019.

Prior to joining the CSU Pueblo coaching staff, Koschke served as Director of Instruction at Walking Stick Golf Course, where he developed junior golf initiatives and cultivated relationships throughout Southern Colorado's golf community. He also previously served as CSU Pueblo's Director of Marketing and Promotions, providing him with a unique understanding of the University's mission and commitment to student-athlete success.

Under Koschke's leadership, ThunderWolf Golf has become synonymous with competitive excellence, academic achievement and community engagement. His student-athletes have consistently earned all-conference, all-region and All-America honors while representing CSU Pueblo with distinction in the classroom and throughout the community.
