GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Colorado State University Pueblo Track and Field delivered a strong showing at the Maverick Invite, hosted by Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado. The ThunderWolves recorded several event victories, NCAA provisional marks, and even a facility record in a standout weekend.
Camille Renou led off the highlights for the ThunderWolves with a second-place finish in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the line in 11:13.96. Jadyn Heron also earned a runner-up finish, clocking in at 17:19.47 in the men's 5,000 meters.
In the throws, Lucas Moran won the men's hammer throw with a mark of 56.36 meters, while All-American Katherine Higgins placed second in the women's hammer at 48.78 meters. The javelin saw major success for CSU Pueblo as Ian Thomas took the men's title with a throw of 62.11 meters—good for an NCAA provisional mark. On the women's side, Keturah Templeman captured the win with a mark of 44.05 meters, hitting an NCAA provisional standard and breaking the Colorado Mesa facility record.
Tyrell Smith was a double winner for the Pack, taking the men's 100 meters in 10.45 seconds—just shy of the facility record—and coming back to win the 200 meters in 20.98, picking up NCAA provisional in both events. In the men's 800 meters, Caleb McLeod crossed first in 1:52.20.
Janise Everett placed third in the women's 200 meters with a time of 24.79 seconds, while in the field events, Xavier Freeman won the men's shot put with a mark of 17.48 meters, earning an NCAA provisional. The ThunderWolves dominated the women's shot put, going 1-2: Katherine Higgins claimed victory with a throw of 15.67 meters and Febe Wessels followed with 14.81 meters. Both hit NCAA provisional standards and aim to return to the Outdoor National Championships.

CSU Pueblo will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational from April 16–18 at Azusa Pacific University in Northern California before shifting focus to the RMAC Outdoor Championships.
