SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Women's Golf Team used a second round surge to move up the leaderboard at the Fujikara Invitational at Shadowridge Country Club, sitting in sixth place after day one of the tournament.
Shadowridge Country Club is playing difficult this week, as the Par 72 track is sitting at 6108 yards. The host school, Cal State San Marcos sits in first place after shooting 295-297 (+16) on day one.
The Pack shot an opening round 309 (+21), but battled back in the late round, improving by six strokes in round two to fire a 303 (+15) round to put them in contention for a top-five finish tomorrow.
The field will conclude the week with 18 holes tomorrow.
Freya Constable led the way for the Pack on day one, as the Scot shot rounds of 75-74 to pace the ThunderWolves. sitting in a tie for eighth place after day one. Fellow European
Lisa Ekberg was right behind Constable, as the Swede shot rounds of 77-74, sitting in a tie for 14th.
Zoey Rodriguez was consistent in the first 36, as the Pueblo Native fired rounds of 77-77 to sit in a tie for 24th.
Rounding out the scoring for the ThunderWolves were
Yale Lee and
Alyssa McMillen. Lee shot rounds of 80-78, while McMillen shot rounds of 82-79.
Play will begin tomorrow with a shotgun start, beginning at 8:30 AM PST.
