PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo Department of Athletics honored its student-athletes and doled out awards for the 2023-24 school year at the 2024 Wolfies, the department's annual student-athlete awards banquet, which was held here Tuesday evening in the Occhiato Student Center Ballroom in front of nearly 650 people. The Wolfies Awards Banquet was sponsored by UC Health and Parkview Health System.
ThunderWolves coaches and administrators recognized nearly 80 student-athletes and all 21 athletic teams and handed out awards to 25 student-athletes. The award winners were nominated by the athletic department's SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) and voted on the department's administration staff.
Along with handing the annual student-athlete awards, CSU Pueblo Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships
Dr. Paul Plinske also recognized the departments athletic accomplishments during the 2023-24 school year and also gave special recognition to the department's individual and team Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champions, the department's All-Americans, Academic All-Americans, and National runners-up from last spring to this past winter (Spring 2023-Winter 2024) - men's soccer team,
Helen Braybrook, women's outdoor track and field (800 meters),
Katherine Higgins, women's indoor track and field (shot put) and women's outdoor track and field (shot put),
Justin Jenks, men's indoor track (shot put),
Nate Miller, outdoor track and field (shot put) and
Reece Sharman-Newell, men's outdoor track and field (800 meters). Dr. Plinske also recognized the school's RMAC and National Players of the Week, the school's All-Conference and Academic All-Conference honorees and student-athletes that set school records during the school year.
The program began with an introduction by Dr. Plinske, who served as the banquet's emcee. Dr. Plinske gave recognition to Parkview and also introduced members of the University Administration in attendance, along with the athletic department's head coaches and administrative team.
Following that, CSU Pueblo President Armando Valdez spoke and then Dr. Plinske presented the Athletic Director Award of Excellence to Dave Miller, who has served as the public address announcer at CSU Pueblo home athletic events for the past 36 years and was inducted into the CSU Pueblo Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017. Miller has called over 3,200 events as the Pack's public address announcer, according to Dr. Plinske.
After Dr. Plinske recognized the athletic department's Athletes/Players of the Week, All-Conference and All-Academic honorees, and school record holders from this year, the first award was handed out by Chance Rodriquez, who announced the winners of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA Award) Integrity Award.
The winners of that award were sophomore men's golfer
Colt Tenpenny (Fulshear, Texas/Katy Tompkins) and sophomore women's track and field athlete
Mary Scoggins (Rangely, Colo./Rangely). The other nominees for the award were softball player
Caitlyn Cole (Merced, Calif./Stone Ridge Christian), men's soccer player
Ignatius DeMark (Phoenix, Ariz./Scottsdale CC), women's basketball player
Romola Dominguez (Denver, Colo./Central Arkansas), football player
Anthony Dugan (Wellington, Colo./Poudre), women's lacrosse player
Maddie Miller (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) and men's lacrosse player
Brett Woolcock (Humble, Texas/Atascocita).
Following the FCA Integrity Award, Rodriquez delivered the invocation, and the assembled crowd ate dinner.
After the conclusion of dinner, the program continued with Dr. Plinske recognizing the department's sports medicine and sports performance staff. Following that, he gave special recognition to the school's RMAC Champions (individual and team), All-Americans, Academic All-Americans and the national runners-up.

Ashley Tosh (Fremont, Calif./Washington), who serves as the CSU Pueblo SAAC President spoke and after she spoke, Dr. Plinske began announcing the rest of the award winners for 2023-24 school year.
