GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Colorado State University Pueblo Men's and Women's Track and Field squads kicked off day one of the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on the campus of Colorado Mesa University.
The men's team currently sits in third place with 20 points after day one, while the women's team is in fifth place with nine points. Colorado Mesa currently leads both the men's and women's team standings.
The Pack were led once again by their throwers just as they have been all season.
Justin Jenks (Helena, Mont./Helena Capital) added another RMAC Championship to his arsenal as the veteran won the men's hammer throw with a mark of 59.26m with an NCAA Provisional.
Leonardo Ramos (Denver, Colo./Far Northeast) finished just behind Jenks with a throw of 55.71 m to claim third place. Ramos also had a strong showing in the men's discus with a throw of 44.75m to take home fifth.Â
Katherine Higgins (Mead, Colo./Ponderosa) had a strong showing in the women's hammer throw as she finished fourth place with a mark of 51.11 meters.
Mikayla Jones (Aurora, Colo./Vista Peak Prep) rounded out the field events for the Pack as she picked up a point for CSU Puebl in the women's high jump with an eighth place showing and a mark of 1.57m.Â
The ThunderWolves had student athletes competing in certain track events on Friday, as
Daniel Beam (Rio Rancho, N.M./Rio Rancho) finished 12th in the 10000m run with a time of 31:47.43, while
Camille Renou (Chalonnes, France) also finished 12th in the women's 1500m run with a time of 4:33.98.Â
Janise Everett (Colorado Springs, Colo./Mesa Ridge) and
Danaya Kinnard (Colorado Springs, Colo./Mesa Ridge) both competed in the 100m dash. Everett finished 14th with a solid time of 12.17, while Kinnard finished right behind her with a time of 12.18 to finish 16th.
