INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Colorado State University Pueblo's Indoor Track and Field program has qualified four throwers for the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. The championships are scheduled to take place on March 8-9 on the campus of Pittsburg State University at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
The men's team will be sending All-American thrower
Justin Jenks (Helena, Mont./Helena Capital) in the Shot Put. Jenks won the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship in the event last week. Jenks has a seed mark of 18.34m.
The women's team will be sending All-American throwers
Katherine Higgins (Mead, Colo./Ponderosa) and
Febe Wessels (Pretoria, South Africa) in the Shot Put. Higgins won the gold last week in the RMAC Championships, whole Wessels finished second. Higgins has a seed mark of 15.63m, while Wessels has a mark of 15.17m.
The women's team will also send junior thrower
Olivia Mikaelian (Albuquerque, N.M./El Dorado) in the Weight Throw. Mikaelian won the gold last week in the RMAC Championships. She has a seed mark of 18.41m.

Adam Lufkin said "Our shot putters have all been All-Americans before so we have a very seasoned group headed into this championship which gives me a lot of confidence, and even though it is Olivia's first time going, she is a junior who have been competing at a high level for a long time." Lufkin also said, "All I feel at this point is exictment to watch this group earn what they have already worked so hard for all season."
The throwers qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event and by being among the top athletes on the national performance lists in their events.
