PUEBLO, Colo. – Entering the final week of the 2024 regular season, the Colorado State University Pueblo football team remains ranked No. 6 and No. 7 in this week's latest D2Football.com and AFCA Division II Coaches polls that were released Monday.
In this week's latest national Division II football polls, the ThunderWolves, who are 9-1 overall and 8-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference following its 28-13 home win this past Saturday over Mines, remained ranked No. 7 in the AFCA Division II Coaches Poll presented by Hudl and also remained sixth in the latest D2Football.com poll heading into Saturday's regular season finale at Chadron State.
The Pack, who extended its RMAC win streak to 15 consecutive games with its 15-point victory over the Orediggers to earn a share of the regular season RMAC title, received 580 points in the AFCA poll to sit five points behind No. 6 Charleston (W.Va.) (10-0) and 41 points in front of No. 8 Central Oklahoma (9-1), while in the D2Football.com poll, the Pack is behind No. 5 Harding (9-1) and in front of No. 7 Central Oklahoma.
It marks the eighth consecutive week and the ninth time this season that the Pack has been ranked in both national polls in the same week and the second straight week they've been inside the Top 10.
The Pack are one of three RMAC teams ranked in the AFCA poll and one of two RMAC teams ranked in the D2Football.com poll as Western Colorado jumped one spot to No. 10 in the AFCA poll and remained 11th in the D2Football.com poll and Mines is ranked 24th in the AFCA poll after being ranked 14th last week. The Orediggers, though, fell out of this week's D2Football.com poll.
Valdosta State (9-0) and Ferris State (9-1) continue to sit No. 1 in the AFCA and D2Football.com polls respectively. Behind Valdosta State in the AFCA poll is Ferris State at No. 2, Kutztown (Pa.) (10-0) at No. 3, Harding (9-1) at No. 4 and Grand Valley State (9-1) at No. 5, while behind Ferris State in the D2Football.com Top 5 is Valdosta State at No. 2, Kutztown at No. 3, Grand Valley State at No. 4 and Harding at No. 6.
CSU Pueblo will look will look to earn the outright RMAC title next Saturday, Nov. 16 as they travel to Chadron, Neb., for a 12 p.m. contest against Chadron State to close out the 2024 regular season. Chadron State (3-7 overall, 2-6 RMAC) suffered a disappointing 21-17 loss this past Saturday at then 11th-ranked Western Colorado (9-1 overall, 7-1 RMAC).
