Daniel Bone III (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) picked up another postseason honor on Monday as he was named a 2023
Don Hansen NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-America selection.
It is the second season that Bone has been named a
Don Hansen NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American as he was also selected in 2022.
The Don Hansen Division II Honorable Mention All-America honor is the fifth postseason accolade that Bone has earned this season as he was also named to the D2Football.com Elite 100 Team, a First-Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection, a Second-Team D2CCA All-Super Region 4 selection and was named a nominee for the 2023 Division II Cliff Harris Award.
Bone repeated as a
Don Hansen NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American this season after tying for the ThunderWolves' team lead in tackles with 84, including tallying a team-best 50 solo stops. In addition, Bone recorded eight tackles for a loss, 3.5 quarterback sacks, two interceptions, recovered three fumbles, forced one fumble, and had one pass break-up.
On the season, Bone's 7.6 tackles per game were tied for fourth-best in the RMAC, while his 4.5 solo tackles per game was sixth-best in the RMAC and his three recovered fumbles was tied for tops in the league and second nationally in Division II. The Preseason Division II All-American had three games with double-digit tackles, including a high of 16 tackles in the Pack's 28-3 win at Chadron State.
During the 2023 regular season, Bone was named an RMAC Defensive Player of the Week two times and through three seasons playing with the Pack, he has recorded 152 total tackles, including 90 solo stops, and has had 11 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, picked off eight passes, had nine pass break-ups, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
Bone was one of 13 players from RMAC named a 2023 Don Hansen Division II All-America selection as Colorado School of Mines senior receiver Max McLeod, Colorado School of Mines senior offensive lineman Levi Johnson and Colorado School of Mines senior linebacker Nolan Reeve were named First-Team All-America selections, while Colorado School of Mines senior quarterback John Matocha was named a Second-Team All-American and Adams State punter Zachary Survillas, Colorado School of Mines defensive lineman Kyle Bohnsen, Colorado School of Mines linebacker Adrian Moreno, Colorado School of Mines offensive lineman Steele Petty, Colorado School of Mines defensive back Jaden Williams, South Dakota School of Mines receiver Ben Noland, Western Colorado running back Deyvon Butler, Western Colorado linebacker Kendall Lightfoot and Western Colorado offensive lineman Tanner Tomlinson were named Honorable Mention All-Americans.
Along with announcing its 2023 All-American Team, Don Hansen also released its Players and Coach of the Year for the 2023 season.
