Ferrie Named Final RMAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for 2023 Season

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the third time this season, Colorado State University Pueblo graduate student goalie Ethan Ferrie (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe) has been named this season's final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

It marks the third time this season and fifth time in the last two seasons that Ferrie has been honored by the league as the Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week has was recognized this season on Feb. 15 and March 20 and was recognized twice during the 2022 season.

Ferrie, who was named the RMAC Co-Goalie of the Year last season, earns this week's finale RMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the 2023 season after recording a school record 29 saves in this past Friday's regular season finale at 12th-ranked Colorado Mesa. Against the Mavs, Ferrie faced 75 shots and had a 63 percent save percentage. The 29 saves bettered Ferrie's old school mark of 24 set earlier this season at Maryville University. The 29 saves were also the most recorded in a game this season in the RMAC.

On the season, Ferrie has played in all 13 games in goal for the Pack and leads the conference in saves with 203 and has a 52.3 save percentage and a 15.60 goals-against-average. With his 203 saves this season, Ferrie has set the school's career mark for saves with 555.

In addition to Ferrie, the league named Colorado Mesa redshirt junior attacker AJ Switzer as the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week. Switzer earns his fifth accolade this season by the league after combining for nine points on six goals and three assists to help lead to two wins and the regular season RMAC title. In this past Friday's game against CSU Pueblo, Switzer had two goals on eight shots and recorded two assists and then closed out the regular season against Adams State with four goals and an assist. He currently ranks 12th in the nation with 2.25 assists per game and 15th nationally in points per game at 4.56.

Ferrie and the No.3 seeded Pack (1-12 overall, 1-5 in the RMAC) will return to action this coming Thursday, May 4 as they travel to Grand Junction, Colo., to face No. 2 seeded Westminster in the semifinals of the RMAC Tournament. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Colorado Mesa.
