Box Score AURORA, Colo. (April 6, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Men's Lacrosse demolished Johnson & Wales University 32-2 Saturday at the Aurora Sports Complex.
The 32 goals set a school-record for the Pack's highest offensive output in a single game. Their previous best of 27 goals came against the Wildcats last season.
Anthony Ferrie (Sr., Littleton, Colo.) scored five goals and dished out six assists. Ferrie's 11-point game shattered the school record of nine, set by
Blake Foerster. The six assists also marked a career-high for Ferrie.
Jacob Muir (Fr., Ogden, Utah) set a new program-record with 21 ground balls, eclipsing
Caleb Johnson's record of 19. Muir broke a program-record by winning 30 faceoffs. Johnson had set a program record with 25 faceoff wins over the Wildcats a season ago. Muir also scored his second goal of the season.
Tommy Vassallo (Jr., Sarasota, Fla.) netted five goals, setting a new career-high. Vassallo added an assist. He has 13 points in two games played at Aurora Sports Complex this season. Defensively, Vassallo established a career-high with four ground balls.
Caleb Cole (Fr.., Houston, Texas) dealt out a career-best four assists. Cole contributed two goals en route to the first six-point game of his career.
Taylor Davis (Sr., Littleton, Colo.) fired in four goals. Davis' four goals came on just four shot attempts. He picked up a season-high three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Dante Buck (So., Farmington, Minn.),
Tyler Reed (So., Sacramento, Calif.), and
Skylar Weathers (Fr., Ogden, Utah) all scored three goals and handed out one assist. Weathers matched a career-high with two caused turnovers.
Matt Lutz (Fr., Austin, Texas) set a career-high with two goals. Lutz dished out two assists, also the most of his young Pack career.
Weston Bartgis (Sr., El Cajon, Calif.) potted two goals. Bartgis also picked up an assist.
Mykael Haney (So., Denver, Colo.) rifled in two goals. This was Haney's first career two-goal game.
Ethan Ferrie (Fr., Littleton, Colo.) picked up the win. Ferrie played the first half, stopping both Wildcat shots he faced. He is now 3-1 on the season.
The Pack put away the game's 24 goals. They led 18-0 at halftime.
Johnson & Wales scored its first goal with 1:54 left in the third quarter. The Pack tossed in the next eight goals to make it 32-1. The Wildcats scored the game's final goal with 28 seconds, but the Pack dominated in a 32-2 win.
CSU-Pueblo improved to 6-3 on the season. The ThunderWolves will now resume Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. They will travel to Grand Junction, Colo. to face Colorado Mesa University Friday April 12 at 7 p.m.
