SHAWNEE, Okla. (April 25, 2019) – The seniors led the way for the Colorado State University-Pueblo women's lacrosse team Thursday, as the ThunderWolves defeated Oklahoma Baptist University 17-6 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contest.

The Pack (5-8, 2-5 RMAC) were in a must-win situation to keep playoff hopes alive. After an even first half, 5-5, CSU-Pueblo dominated the second half against the Bison (5-8, 1-7 RMAC) by the score of 12-1 to secure the conference victory.Â

Senior
Allison Wurscher (A, Tigard, Ore.) just missed her career-high, as she recorded six goals and put all 12 of her shots on goal. She added two ground balls and scored two free position goals. The senior's career-high came as a freshman when she netted seven goals in a game against Adams State University.Â

Taylor Christensen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) netted a hat trick for the ThunderWolves, as she finished with three goals on five shots on goal. She also added five ground balls, four caused turnovers and two draw controls.Â

Ane Marie Horton (Long Beach, Calif.) totaled eight saves in her fifth win of the season. She added six ground balls and four caused turnovers with zero turnovers of her own.Â

Emily Eller (A, Keller, Texas) scored twice with one free position goal. She totaled two ground balls. Â

Olivia Tener (A, Boise, Idaho) produced a multi-point game with two goals and an assist. She also added two caused turnovers.Â

Paige Schemenauer (A, Bristol, Ind.) scored twice off the bench and freshman
Caylie Wagner (A, Scottsdale, Ariz.) had a point and an assist in a starting role. Wagner also picked up four ground balls.

Emily Brewer (D, St. Louis, Mo.) tied for the team lead with five caused turnovers and picked up four ground balls, while also providing an assist.Â

Ali Doyle (A, Portland, Ore.) scored once and also had five caused turnovers with three ground balls and a draw control.Â

Britney Smith (D, Oregon City, Ore.) added three ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control.Â

Tayllor Diem (Eagle, Idaho) contributed three caused turnovers and three ground balls.Â

In the end the Pack totaled 29 caused turnovers and had just 16 turnovers. CSU-Pueblo had 39 shots to OBU's 20. The ThunderWolves racked up 20 shots on goal in the second half and totaled 30 in the game, while allowing three in the second frame for 14 total for OBU. The Pack won the ground game with 37 ground balls to 22 by the home team. CSU-Pueblo totaled all those second half stats while winning just one draw control. In the game, the Bison gathered 19 draw controls to the road team's five.Â

OBU scored first about three minutes in, but three of the next four goals would be netted by the ThunderWolves to open a 3-2 lead with 16:34 remaining. The Bison responded by scoring three of the next four goals to open a 5-4 lead. Christensen's second goal of the game came with 7:47 remaining in the first half to tie the game 5-5 and that is where it stood for the remainder of the first half.Â

The Christensen goal started a run of 12 unanswered by the ThunderWolves. Tener scored 2:12 into the second half, which jump-started a run of five goals in the first seven minutes of the frame. Wurscher scored twice during the run, which included a player-up goal.Â

Wurscher scored three straight for the ThunderWolves between the 11:21 to 7:55 marks to move the score to 14-5. Three more by the Pack in the final minutes handed CSU-Pueblo the 17-6 win.Â

CSU-Pueblo closes the regular season at Adams State Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. A win and the Pack secure their fourth RMAC victory, which would establish a program record. The ThunderWolves will need to win, a Westminster College win and University of Colorado Colorado Springs loss Saturday to reach the RMAC Tournament.Â
