Pack downed by late Mountain Lion run 67-59

PUEBLO, Colo. (February 2, 2019) – Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball was tamed by the University of Colorado Colorado Springs as the Mountain Lions beat the Pack 67-59.
 
Khiya Adams (Jr., Falcon, Colo.) led all players with 17 points. Adams made 8-fo-15 from the field. She hauled in nine rebounds. Defensively, Adams had a block and two steals.
 
JaNaiya Davis (Fr., Hewitt, Texas) set a career-high with seven assists. Davis scored 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting. She finished with five rebounds and three steals.
 
Sydni Williams (So., Little Rock, Ark.) narrowly missed a double-double. Williams netted nine points. She came down with 10 rebounds.
 
Jennah Knafelc (Sr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) poured in 10 points. Knafelc shined defensively with three steals and one block against her former team.
 
The two teams remained close throughout the contest. With 3:20 left in the first, the Pack trailed 14-6. However CSU-Pueblo rattled off nine straight points to take a 15-14 lead after one. Adams scored eight points in the opening quarter.
 
In the second quarter, neither team could get separation. The two teams stayed within one possession of each other throughout the quarter and entered the half tied at 28.
 
The Pack pulled ahead by five for its largest lead of the game (42-37) with 1:28 left in the third. They led 44-41 heading into the fourth.
 
In a game that stayed close throughout, it was the final five minutes that made the difference. UCCS went on a 12-5 run over the final 4:02 to claim the 67-59 win.
 
The Pack and Mountain Lions now share fourth place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings with two other teams. Both teams have a 9-6 record in RMAC games. The Pack stands 11-10 overall, while the Mountain Lions sit at 10-11.
 
CSU-Pueblo will continue its season-long four-game homestand Friday Feb. 8 when they host Black Hills State University at 5:30 p.m. The ThunderWolves will conclude their four-game homestand with their annual Take-A-Kid-To-A-Game Night Saturday Feb. 9.
 
Denver Nuggets Super Mascot Rocky will be in town for Take-A-Kid-To-A-Game Night to entertain the crowd. The Pack will play South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
