Pack scores final 14 points to shock Trailblazers 73-70

ST. GEORGE, UTAH (December 15, 2018) – Trailing by 11, Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball fought back to stun Dixie State University, 73-70 Saturday at Burns Arena.
 
The ThunderWolves held the Trailblazers scoreless for the final 5:49 of the game. CSU-Pueblo scored the game's last 14 points.
 
Khiya Adams (Jr., Falcon, Colo.) collected her third double-double of the season. Adams led the Pack with 20 points. She also pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds. Adams had six points and four rebounds during the Pack's game-winning 14-point run. She finished with four steals and two blocks.
 
Jennah Knafelc (Sr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) tacked on 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Knafelc made 6-of-7 at the line. She dished out four assists and had a block and a steal in the win.
 
Sydni Williams (So., Little Rock, Ark.) scored 12 points. Williams rejected two Trailblazer shots and came away with seven boards.
 
JaNaiya Davis (Fr., Hewitt, Texas) delivered the game-winning basket with 15 seconds left and sealed the deal with a free throw that put the Pack up two. She finished with eight points and four assists. Davis went 3-of-5 from the field and 2-of-2 at the line.
 
Nadirah Oakman (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) netted a season-high nine points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field. Oakman added six rebounds, also a season-high.
 
Dixie State came out of the gate rolling, taking a 14-4 lead just 3:30 into the game. The Pack fell behind 25-16, but scored the final six points of the quarter to cut it to 25-22 after one.
 
The Pack scored the first eight points of the second quarter to make it a 14-0 run overall that gave the ThunderWolves their first lead of the game. Dixie State would tie it and the two teams traded the lead for the rest of the second quarter before heading into the half tied at 46.
 
After a Williams bucket, the Trailblazers answered with a 10-0 run that put them in front 56-48. They held a 62-56 lead after three.
 
The Trailblzaers used an 8-3 run  to take a 70-59 lead with 5:49 remaining. However, the Pack would clamp down defensively. Dixie State would not score again.
With 15 seconds left, Davis scored on a layup and made a free throw that gave the Pack a 72-20 lead. Oakman added another free throw as the Pack completed a remarkable comeback to win 73-70.
 
The Pack now holds a 6-5 record overall. They are 4-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The ThunderWolves will now enjoy two weeks off before returning to competition Jan. 4, 2019 at Colorado Christian University.
