Pack bested by No.7 West Texas A&M in final nonconference test

CANYON, Texas  (November 23, 2018) – In their last nonconference game of the season, Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Basketball could not upset No. 7 West Texas A&M University as the Pack fell to the Lady Buffs 91-70 Saturday at the First United Bank Center.
 
Senior Jennah Knafelc (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) scored a team –high 18 points. Knafelc hit 4-of-9 from downtown and 7-of-15 from the field. She came away with four steals for the second consecutive game. Knafelc added four assists, four rebounds and a block.
 
Sydni Williams (So., Little Rock, Ark.) led the Pack with seven rebounds. Williams tacked on 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting. She was also a perfect 3-for-3 at the line.
 
Khiya Adams (Jr., Falcon, Colo.) netted 11 points and a block.  Naomi Torgerson (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) totaled nine points.
 
JaNaiya Davis (Fr., Hewitt, Texas) delivered eight points. She handed out four assists.
 
West Texas caught fire early, building an 11-point lead in the first quarter, 21-10.  The LadyBuffs led 24-14 after one.
 
In the second quarter, the Pack chipped away at the LadyBuffs lead. They closed within four at 36-32 with 2:20 left in the half. West Texas scored seven points in a row to make it a double-digit lead once again. Despite making 53.3 percent from the field, the Pack trailed 45-36 at the half.
 
West Texas jumped out to a 20-point in the third quarter. The Pack would never get back within single digits again as the LadyBuffs rolled to a 91-70 win.  
 
The Pack will head into Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play with a 2-4 record for the second consecutive season. CSU-Pueblo will begin its  quest for a third consecutive RMAC Regular Season Championship Saturday Dec. 1 when they visit New Mexico Highlands University at 5:30 p.m.
