Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. (October 14, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team lost a 3-1 match against Regis University Sunday on Parent's Day at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium on a cold and windy day on the pitch.
Harrison Sikes (Sr., Moore, Okla.) notched his third score of the year in the effort for the ThunderWolves.
Despite the final score, the Pack outshot the Rangers by a 16-9 clip and finished with eight corners to just five by Regis.
Starting the match, both teams fought the cold and swirling wind on the field and exchanged possession. Each team created numerous opportunities at the net as the ThunderWolves outshot the Rangers 8-7 in the period.
Regis got on the board first in the 23' off a deflected shot that was shot right back into the center of the net.
By halftime, the ThunderWolves had five corner kicks and was led in shot attempts from Lewis Chambers(So., Bournemouth, UK) with two at the break.
In the second half Regis scored four minutes in from a corner kick on the far side and the ball sailed into the box and was struck high and out of the reach of the goalkeeper.
The Pack continued to battle and remained active.
Sikes registered just under forty minutes in the match and did well in attacking the Rangers defense.
The Pack's Richard Panknin (So., Sassnitz, Germany) played full minutes and was solid on the defensive side and at midfield.
Regis extended the lead to 3-0 in the 64' on an unassisted goal.
Sikes got the Pack on the board in the 73' on a pass in by Brayden Ballman (So., Seattle, Wash.) and Sikes then did some fancy footwork to beat the goalkeeper and put in the score straight away center.
After the score, CSU-Pueblo continued to fire at the Rangers net and finished with three shots on goal in the last ten minutes but the strong play from the Regis goalkeeper put the game away.
Chambers finished with a game-high four shots and three on goal.
Tanner Pile (So., Tempe, Ariz.) and Michael Chism (Sr., Littleton, Colo.) each had two shots that landed on goal in the match.
Pack goalkeeper Tyler Harvey (Jr., Henderson, Nev.) made three saves and allowed three goals in full minutes at the net.
CSU-Pueblo (5-7-2, 2-6-2 RMAC) goes on the road next week to finish the road portion of the schedule. Friday, the Pack plays at Dixie State (UT) and wrap the road schedule Sunday at Westminster (UT).
