ST. CHARLES, Mo. (February 25, 2016) – Colorado State University-Pueblo men's lacrosse has its regular season opener spoiled by Lindenwood University. The No. 8 ranked Lions thwarted the pack in a 24-5 win. Beginning its second season of men's lacrosse, the Pack fell to 0-1 on the early campaign.
Jamil Modaffari (Sr., Penn Yen, N.Y.) and Weston Bartgis (Fr., El Cajon, Calif.) each scored a goal and dished out an assist to lead the Pack with two points. Modaffari now has a goal in each of his last 10 games dating back to last season.
Cody Bolen (So., Castle Rock, Colo.), Kelton Himmelberg (Jr., Centennial, Colo.), and Joe McDonough (Fr., Jacksonville, N.C.) all scored a goal for the Pack. Mitchell Ramm (Fr., Shakopee, Minn.) took the loss for the Pack, making eight saves in 45 minutes of work.
CSU-Pueblo hung around for a quarter as goals from Himmelberg and Bolen cut the Lions lead to three. However, Lindenwood answered with seven straight to take a 12-2 lead into haltime. The added another 12 in the second half of a 24-5 win.
The Pack returns to action Saturday when the play at Rockhurst University in their first-ever Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game. CSU-Pueblo and Rockhurst will start the game at 11 a.m. mountain time
