Payer (Defensive) and Wise (Special Teams) earn RMAC Player of the Week

RMAC RELEASE

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 17, 2016) - Colorado State University-Pueblo football players Brandon Payer (So., LB, Pine, Colo.) and Daniel Wise (Sr., WR, Arlington, Texas) have earned conference player of the week honors, announced by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference office Monday.

Payer was recognized as RMAC Defensive Player of the Week, while Wise picked up the RMAC Special Teams Player of the Week award.

In 2016 the Pack have earned four conference honors, as Bernard McDondle (Jr., RB, Littleton, Colo.) was offensive player of the week Oct. 10 and Emery Taylor (CB, R-Fr., Aurora, Colo. ) was won the defensive award Sept. 19.

Payer guided the Pack defense to a 33-12 Homecoming victory against Fort Lewis College Oct. 15 with 14 tackles (five solo), a half tackle for loss (-1 yard), his first interception of the season (returned four yards), a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry.

The CSU-Pueblo defense has kept its opponent to 12 points or less in four of the past five games.

Payer leads the team in tackles with 59 (28 solo) and is tied for the team lead with seven tackles for loss (-14 yards).

Wise compiled 180 all-purpose yards with 87 yards on punt returns, 68 kick return yards and 18 reception yards in a 33-12 Homecoming win against Fort Lewis. He totaled the 87 punt return yards on three attempts (29.0 ypr) with the long going for 40 yards. His 68 punt return yards came on two attempts (34 ypr)with the long going for 37 yards. He scored a touchdown on one of his two receptions.

Wise owns 508 combined return yards this season to rank 20th nationally.

The ThunderWolves (4-3, 4-2 RMAC) head to Black Hills State (5-2, 5-2 RMAC) Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. in an important RMAC showdown in Spearfish, S.D.
