ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (May 4, 2015) – After carding a day-one score of 5-over 77, Colorado State University-Pueblo's Leina Kim (Jr., Saipan, CNMI) is in a tie for 25th place at the NCAA Women's Golf West Region Tournament at Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park, Calif.
Crystal Wang of Academy of Art and Midwestern State's Brenna Moore are tied atop the leaderboard at 3-under 69. Wang's efforts have her team in a tie for first with host Sonoma State at 6-over 294.
Kim opened the day with a birdie on the par-five first hole. She followed that with seven consecutive pars to remain at 1-under through the first eight holes. A bogey at hole nine gave her an even-par 36 entering the back nine.
The back nine proved to be more challenging for Kim as she recorded a 5-over score through holes 10-13. After a par at hole 14 and a bogey at No. 15, Kim carded a much-needed eagle-3 at hole 16. The eagle was the only one of the day in the tournament. Kim concluded the day with a par and bogey at holes 17 and 18, respectively, to finish with a 5-over 77.
Kim looks to improve on her day-one score Tuesday with the tournament's second round. She will be in the first pairing of the day and is scheduled to tee off at 9:30 a.m. (MDT).
